About Chelmsford
Chelmsford located 30 miles Northeast of London. It`s a beautiful town with historical monuments, astonishing museums and has a vibrant nightlife. There are many elegant and lovely places where you can eat, shop and drink. Chelmsford is the only city in Essex with the open countryside, attractive villages and the flourishing town of South Woodham.
The city name is derived from Ceolmaer's ford which was meant to be close to site of the present High Street Stone Bridge. In 1086, the town was registered with the name Celmeresfort in the Domesday Book, later in 1189 it was changed to Chelmsford.
